Want to save space in your gym, save money, and improve your workouts? Our adjustable dumbbells may be just what you need.
Adjustable dumbbells work using simple adjustment mechanisms; just move the mechanism to your desired weight, and lift. The weight range of our adjustable dumbbells matches what you might see in fixed-weight dumbbell sets—but at a fraction of the cost. Best of all, they take up less space, freeing up your gym for more equipment and/or more space to work out.
Adjustable dumbbells are dumbbells with a mechanism that allows you to change their weight. Regular dumbbells are a set weight, which means you need multiple sets of regular dumbbells to change the weight you’re lifting during your workout. With adjustable dumbbells, you only need a single pair; you can then adjust the weight of the dumbbells as needed.
Dial-adjustable dumbbells feature a sleek, easy-to-use design. To select your desired weight, you simply twist a dial. Twisting the dial releases or grabs weight plates; to adjust the weight again, you simply place the dumbbell back in its cradle and re-adjust the dial!
Selector pin dumbbells allow you to select your desired weight by sliding a pin into the appropriate weight slot; it’s a lot like using a gym weight stack. With selector pin dumbbells from trusted brands like PowerBlock, we’ve got some great adjustable weights in this category!
Love using barbells? Our plate-loaded adjustable dumbbells offer a similar experience; you slide weight plates onto the dumbbells and then secure them with collars. These dumbbells allow you to get incredibly precise about how much you lift because you can use a much wider combination of plates.
Twist-lock dumbbells feature a very elegant design; you lock in your desired weight by simply twisting the handle of the dumbbell while it’s sitting in its base! We have high-quality, long-lasting twist-lock dumbbells from brands like Trulap.
One pair of adjustable dumbbells can replace dozens of individual fixed-weight dumbbells. Imagine having to keep 20-50 pairs of dumbbells in your home gym; now imagine replacing them all with a single set of adjustable dumbbells. You’ll save a lot of space—and in a home gym, that extra space can make a huge difference.
Adjustable dumbbells are typically more affordable than buying an equivalent dumbbell set. You can save hundreds of dollars by opting for adjustable dumbbells—and that’s money you can put toward gym equipment you can fit in your home gym with all the space you’ve saved!
All of our adjustable dumbbells are designed to make it easy for you to change weights. Our twist-lock, dial-adjustable, and selector pin dumbbells are best for this; simply place your dumbbell back in the base, adjust, and you’re ready for your next workout.
Strength training is all about changing weight increments; you won’t want the same weight for chest presses as you will for curls. Using our adjustable dumbbells means you can change the weight you’re lifting quickly and efficiently, giving you everything you need for a full-body workout.
The first step to choosing the right adjustable dumbbells is selecting the weight range that’s right for you. You might be tempted to choose a smaller weight range, but remember—as you progress, you’ll lift more and more. Lighter weights can be a great way to start, but consider expanding the weight range of your adjustable dumbbells so that you have room to grow.

Adjustable dumbbells come with a variety of different grip and handle designs. The one you’ll choose will depend on your fitness level and goals. Here are a few things to consider:
Knurled metal handles are the gold standard when it comes to heavy lifting and competitive lifting; the knurling improves your grip substantially.
For comfort, opt for rubber handles; they can be a lot easier on your hands. Keep in mind, however, that rubber handles can get sweaty, so they’re less ideal for higher-weight workouts and competitive training.
Handles come in a variety of different shapes; they may be rounded or rectangular. We recommend trying different handles to see what feels best; handle shape mostly comes down to personal preference.
Adjustable dumbbells are often made from a mix of different materials, including cast iron and other metals, plastic, and rubber. Rubberized coatings are common on plates to protect your floors. Plastic components are common on dials because they’re lightweight. When your dial or twist-lock is made of plastic, it’s important to handle it with care or it will need repairs.
When compared to traditional dumbbells, all adjustable dumbbells provide easier storage and improved portability. Dial-adjustable, selector pin, and twist-lock dumbbells all provide similar levels of portability and ease of storage. Plate-loaded dumbbells are somewhat less portable because all plates are purchased and stored individually, and they may not feature a base or cradle to improve portability.
