Barbell collars keep weight plates secure on your barbell. They’re sometimes called barbell clamps or barbell clips—whatever you call them, if you want to lift more weight safely, they’re an essential part of any barbell setup.
We have barbell collars available for both standard and Olympic bars. Stay safe and lift more with barbell collars from Fitness Experience!
Spring collars are some of the most common barbell collars. Simply apply pressure to both sides of the handle to expand the collar. When you release the handles, the collar will tighten around your barbell. These collars are incredibly affordable and easy to use.
Clamp barbell collars (also called lock-jaw collars) are very easy to use. You open and close the collars with a simple latch. They feature sturdy exteriors, typically made from tough polymers or metal, and rubber interiors to increase friction on the sleeve and keep your plates secure.
Competition collars are built for competitive weightlifting. They’re calibrated to a specific weight, ensuring accurate weight throughout the competition. Competition collars may use a number of different mechanisms to lock onto the sleeve, including clamping and screw locking.
Magnetic collars typically feature latch-style mechanisms, similar to clamp collars. The magnets in many magnetic collars will lock onto the barbell to increase security. Magnetic collars are especially practical in competition. Competitors can remove the sleeves quickly to improve storage, you can stick them on your rack, and they’re ready to go whenever you want to lift them again.
Spin lock collars, also known as screw lock collars, feature a screw mechanism; you tighten or loosen them by screwing clockwise or counterclockwise. They provide excellent security at a lower cost than some alternatives, but they take a little longer to put on and take off compared to clamp collars. We offer spin lock collars that fit on standard 1” barbells.
