Stationary Bikes We Sell In Winnipeg

Spin Bikes And Indoor Cycles

Best quality spin bikes and indoor cycles can be found online or in store at Fitness Experience, Canada's trusted fitness equipment partner.

An indoor cycle—often known as a spin bike—is a type of stationary bike that is designed to emulate the feel of a road bike. They’re some of the most commonly seen stationary bikes in Winnipeg thanks to the popularity of spin classes. Here’s what you need to know about indoor cycles:

Size and mobility:Spin bikes are among the smallest-footprint cardio machines available—smaller than other stationary bikes, and certainly smaller than most treadmills. They feature front transport wheels that make them easy to move around.

Feel:Spin bikes feel like road bikes; you’ll typically use them while bent over or standing. You can adjust the seat and handlebars of your spin bike, but you’ll always be at least slightly bent over. The seat of a spin bike also emulates the feel of a road bike seat, so if you want a larger, more comfortable seat, you might want to look into an upright bike or recumbent bike.

Spin bikes have fixed flywheels; this means that if you take your feet off the pedals after pedalling, the momentum will continue to rotate the flywheel and pedals. Knowing this can help keep you safe.

Console:Most spin bikes have consoles, but some do not. Spin bikes with consoles typically have very simple displays: Time, distance, wattage, and calories burned. Other spin bikes feature built-in fitness class programs, virtual races, and other advanced features.

Resistance:Your spin bike may feature either magnetic or friction-based resistance. Spin bike resistance can be adjusted on the fly using a dial or crank; this makes them the perfect fit for interval training, which is one of the reasons they’ve become so popular in group fitness classes.

Who is it for:Spin bikes are a great choice for people who want to emulate the feeling of a road bike, who want the comfort of a spin-style class in their own home, and those looking for easy-to-change resistance for interval training. People with injuries or illnesses that limit their ability to bike while bent over or standing might consider upright or recumbent bikes instead.

Upright Bikes

Upright bikes are another popular style of exercise bike; they’re a great choice if you’re looking for cardio workouts, but don’t find the positioning of indoor cycles comfortable.

Size and mobility:Though smaller than some cardio machines, upright bikes tend to be larger than indoor cycles. They’re not quite as mobile, either, but don’t worry—at Fitness Experience, we deliver exercise equipment throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area. We can help you set your equipment up, too.

Some upright bikes require power outlets to work; others offer self-generated power. This means you may be able to set up your upright bike in places where other cardio machines cannot operate.

Feel:Upright bikes aim to provide a comfortable riding experience. You sit on the bike straight up, so you don’t need to bend over. Upright bikes are not made for standing, so you should only use them in a sitting position. The seat on your upright bike should be large and comfortable. Upright bikes offer vertical seat adjustment; some upright bikes also offer adjustable handlebars.

Console:Most upright bikes feature large consoles. An upright bike may have a simple console that gives you information on heart rate, calories burned, time spent, and other vital metrics—most upright bikes, however, feature consoles that offer fitness classes and even advanced features like Wi-Fi and web browsers so you can attend virtual classes or get work done while you ride.

Resistance:Upright bikes operate using magnetic resistance. Resistance is toggled with buttons on the console (or sometimes on the handlebars). The button-toggled resistance makes upright bikes less suitable for interval training than indoor cycles.

Who is it for:An upright bike is a great option if you’re looking for a more comfortable method of cardio training; they’re lower impact than treadmills, and their upright seating makes them an excellent choice for anyone who wants to avoid having to bend over or stand for long periods of time.

Recumbent Bikes

Matrix Fitness R30 Recumbent Bike | Fitness Experience

Recumbent bikes are similar to upright bikes, but they allow you to bike in a reclined position instead of upright. They’re the perfect choice for people with limited mobility, back problems, or other conditions that would make using an indoor cycle or upright bike difficult.

Size and mobility:Recumbent bikes tend to have the largest profile of all exercise bikes because the seats are leaned back. They also have a step-through design which makes them easier to get on, but increases the space they take up. Though recumbent bikes aren’t particularly mobile, you don’t have to worry—our team can deliver your recumbent bike anywhere in Winnipeg and the surrounding area. We’ll install it for you, too.

Feel:Recumbent bikes are, to many, the most comfortable style of exercise bike. They have large, well-padded seats that can be adjusted closer or further from the console. You lie back in the seat to use the bike, so you can get an excellent workout without putting strain on your back.

Console:The console options for recumbent bikes are similar to the options available on upright bikes. Consoles tend to be quite large and offer a variety of features, from virtual classes to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity so you can enjoy movies, music, and more while you exercise.

Resistance:Recumbent bikes use magnetic resistance. Resistance is toggled with buttons on the console (or sometimes on the handlebars). The button-toggled resistance makes recumbent bikes less suitable for interval training than indoor cycles.

Who is it for:Want to exercise without putting strain on your back? A recumbent bike may be perfect for you. They’re an incredible option for people with limited mobility or other conditions that make using upright bikes or indoor cycles difficult. The step-through design also makes getting into and out of a recumbent bike much easier.
